Lulavere lived with her husband Besim and her son and daughter in Pec. On 27 March 1999, Serbian police officers, some of whom were accompanied by Lulavere's neighbours, came into their yard. They knocked Besim to the ground and beat him. Soon afterwards, they killed him in front of Lulavere. Besim's family left the city on the following day. On returning to the city, they did not find his body. Three years later, Besim's mortal remains were found in the mass grave in Batajnica.
